Weekly Review
Last Monday we arrived home from Cincinnati after 11 hours of driving and had to jump into clearing out nearly an entire “level” of our home…which included our office, laundry room, utility closet, 2 coat closets, pantry, and a bathroom. On our drive home our contractor called to let us know he would be showing up at 9:30 am on Tuesday morning to begin the demolition! Yikes…we were so stinkin tired it was a challenge.
Thankfully I didn’t have to work on Tuesday so I worked til around midnight…then began again early on Tuesday. We didn’t get it all out on Monday…so Tuesday evening Kirk and I were still taking out the built-in desk in the office and moving that stuff downstairs. Needless to say, our basement is completely full and we are now living in chaos!
The upside to all this is that I’m really excited to see the finished product. I’ve been choosing cabinetry and tile, and designing the “look” I want down there. Thursday I drew up the cabinetry plan. Yesterday Kirk and I laid out the floor plan for the bathroom…shower size/location & door location. We also figured out where the washer/dryer would go and how the countertop in the laundry/mudroom area would be laid out. It will look very cool! Hopefully in about 2.5 months I’ll be able to show you all the “finished product”. Meanwhile, I’ll try to keep you updated on the progress.
The picture above is the new floor plan…..
washer/dryer are orange boxes on left (they will be to the left of the garage entry)…the counter will run from the washer around the outside wall, under window and turn the corner at the “bucket”. The other block of orange on the right side of photo is the new shower. Of course there will be a wall between the shower and laundry room.
I think I might have to start an online album for the remodel pics….we’ll see.
