Not every beautiful home makes it to a magazine. That’s why every now and then I like to share photos of homes that are inspiring and unique and that should be featured in a magazine. You can see other homes I’ve posted HERE and my cousin’s 1892 country home HERE, HERE, and HERE.
This time I’m featuring the home of our best friends. Well, it’s their home now, but not for long. They recently listed it for sale and it just sold. The photos of the home are shared here with the permission of their realtor, Denel Ihde-Sparks. I’m a little sad they have sold the home, but that’s partly because I get attached to homes. Kirk and I have loved spending time in this home with our friends. There are so many beautiful memories of dinners, dessert, coffee, conversations and even a quiet Christmas morning with just the four of us. The home is so full of inspiration — it just needs to be shared.
Here’s the home description from the realtor:
You’ll feel love & pride of ownership the moment you step into this home! The owners spared no expense renovating & caring for this 3-BR, 3-BA w/ oversized 2-car heated garage & additional storage! A Cottage in the City
This is truly a cottage in the city, the aerial view shows how this adorable home fits right in to the surroundings of the city.
This lot proves that a smaller parcel of land is often an advantage when it comes to making the outdoor spaces cozy and inviting.
On the back side of the home there’s a driveway, stairs leading up to a one-bedroom apartment/airbnb, and a little sitting area outside the backdoor.
Beauty is often found in simple details like a vintage porch glider to relax in the shade, a metal bucket to wind a garden hose, or a simple sign that welcomes guests to gather.
Cozy City Cottage Patio
This side of the home has steps down from the den. The four of us shared many a meal and conversation at this delightful patio table.
Taking a walk through the neighborhood? Don’t you just adore this charming view with simple touches like a bench at the end of the brick walk that welcomes you to sit for a minute, tie your shoe, rest.
A home isn’t the structure or the landscape or paint colors. Our home is where we welcome family and friends. At it’s very core home is where not only where your heart is, but the hearts of those you love and trust.
I’ll be sharing photos of the interior of this adorable little cottage in my next post.
Note: our friends are moving on to their next great adventure and fixing up another home which I know will be just as beautiful, welcoming and comfortable on the outside as it is on the inside and I can’t wait to follow along!
