Commute delay

CheriGENERAL

Normally my commute to and from my job takes between 15 and 20 minutes.
Today it took me 50 minutes to get home.

About two thirds of my commute is on winding country back roads.  The other third is on a state highway.  Today, where the country road meets up with the highway I was stopped by a state trooper.  His squad car blocking the road, he walked up to my car and said I’d have to wait, or could go back the way I came from.  “How long will the wait be?”, I asked.  His reply, “I wish I knew.”

Cars lined the frontage road.  People were standing along side of their cars.  Everyone facing north.

The Commander in Chief, the President of the United States of America (and his humungous motorcade) was about to pass by.

The highway cleared, but only in the direction the motorcade was traveling.

A posse of about 8 state trooper cars approached and passed.
Nothing directly behind them.

Then The President’s parade appeared
and after the motorcade passed
a short drive, took a long time
as cars that had been held up filled the remainder
of my commute.
And that is my moment in history.
