I’ve been feeling a bit under the weather this week.
Today was culmination day —-by far the WORST day of all. Best decision I made all week was to stay home from work today.
I tried to go in. I got up, and tried to get ready — it wasn’t gonna happen. So I sent my boss an email — and climbed back under the covers where I tried to sleep through the chills, sweats, and stuffed nose.
When I woke up, I had a big decision to make:
Now that I’m pretty sure I have the flu . . .
I don’t feel quite so guilty about laying around and doing absolutely nothing today — as hard as it was for me. Not that I could have done something if I wanted to — just fixing myself a cup of tea takes a lot of energy. My sweet DIY Guy brought me home Chicken Noodle soup from Panera — which really hit the spot — inspite of the fact that I had to put my head down on the table in between spoonfuls. Ah, the life.
When our kids were young, I’d fear getting sick, knowing that I’d still have to take care of my three pre-schoolers no matter how bad I felt. And Lord help us all if I had sick kids and I was sick too!
This morning we put a new spin on that scenario — our Wild One wasn’t feeling quite so wild this morning . . . she texted me that she was sick — throwing up. Sheesh.
So, we talked throughout the day — she gave me reports on how she was doing and vice versa…and on a few occasions had to hang up to …..well….shall we say pay homage to the porcelain throne.
Her birthday is tomorrow. She has a drive to Chicago on Friday morning to be a camp nurse for a youth retreat. She needs to get better — and fast. She has her boy taking good care of her too…..that sure makes it easier for a mom’s heart when her girl is so far away.
Word of wisdom to you all……Get your flu shot! It’s not too late!
