Weekend winds down . . .

It’s Sunday night around 8:00 pm:  DIY guy and I are sitting side-by-side at the kitchen table — busy on our laptops.  Me blogging.  Him – “working for the man”.    We just returned from a dinner that  cost us $6.88 at Culver’s.  I’m a cheap date, what can I say?  

Friday’s are my favorite day of the week — especially when I leave the office.   I love the possibilities a weekend holds.  Whether it’s getting together with friends, looking forward to sleeping until I wake up on Saturday morning (versus the alarm shouting at me to wake) or having coffee and talking with DIY GUY on Saturday morning — Friday is the kick-off for all things relaxing for me.   


Friday evening we made some impromptu plans with J &D for a dinner of our favorite food – Chipotle….then some rousing girls vs. guys games of Sequence.

Saturday evening was a wine tasting event hosted by the V’s.  B is an excellent entertainer and hosts wonderful parties.  B is a detail person.  As guests arrive at their home, we are greeted by a themed vignette of grapes, wine bottle and candles on the front porch . . .

Her table has fresh flowers and candles.
Simple and elegant.

The invitation stated that we were to bring – our favorite bottle wine for the “tasting”.


We brought this one, it’s my favorite.
DIY Guy likes reds.

Each guest “poured” and presented the wine we brought.
DIY Guy poured for us — he did a great job.
After everyone tasted, the name of the wine & price were “revealed”

There were 7 different wines tasted.

This one was a hit with me — it tastes a lot like one of my favorites,
“Cakebread” — which I don’t buy, because it is just too pricey.
If you like Cakebread – you’ll like Foxglove.

I’m a white wine kinda girl.
Chardonnay’s are my favorites.


DIY Guy really like this one — it’s a Shiraz. . .

Red wine gives me migraines – so I don’t go near the stuff.
Except maybe a drop on my tongue now and then.

Between each tasting, B had a different appetizer for us to taste.
I brought my brandy-pecan glazed Brie.
We also had, artichoke dip and garlic toast, 
prosciutto wrapped asparagus (YUM)
Mediterranean rolls (prosciutto, feta, basil)
Cheese, crackers, grapes
and cheesecake with toppings to finish the night.

THEN . . .

Sunday afternoon  . . .
I did something radical – and totally not me.
I actually “spoke” — well it was more of an interview —
to a group of about 50 people who are in the beginning
stages of starting a new church!
I had many moments of thinking…
“what on earth am I doing here?”
BUT, it was a very cool experience….sharing my 
thoughts on the challenges, joys & rewards of starting a new church.
It’s been 12 years since we started our church.

So now….
I’m goin’ dancing with my guy in the kitchen!
