I’ve recently been paying attention to which of my blog posts are the most visited, and also which Pinterest boards and pins are saved the most. Then I realized there are so many new faces here who may have missed the two most popular posts of 2020. So, if you are new here, WELCOME! I’m so happy to have you along on my journey. Here are a couple of posts you may have missed. If you are an old friend and follower, I hope this post inspires you.
Planting Zinnias
Last spring I planted a half-pound of zinnia seeds at the end of our driveway where it meets the road. My goal with all those zinnias was to bring smiles and a bit of cheer to all the walkers who visited our neighborhood during the COVID lockdown. Turns out the flowers were a head-turning, bright spot on our street and we received many comments and questions on how I planted them. I blogged about how I planted zinnias HERE and pinned the post on Pinterest.
I’ve planted zinnias since we purchased our first home in 1983 and I can’t imagine not having the bright blooms in my cutting garden. This year the zinnias have been planted in the side yard in the cutting garden. The driveway entrance is now welcoming guests with 15 LimeLight Hydrangea plants, which was what I had planned to plant in 2020! Thinking of planting zinnias? There is still time to plant the seeds! Even in a small space they will bring joy!
Cottage Office + Studio
Another favorite blog post and Pinterest Pin in the last few months was my studio/office. We started with a small, dark, and seldom-used sunroom and transformed it into a bright office/studio. The sunroom has served many purposes over the years we have lived here. In the early years, it was a space for Kirk and me to watch television or read, then, when our kids were in high school and college they often spent a great deal of time here with friends. One year we used the room for a summer dining space. And, one of my favorite ways we used the sunroom was as a sleeping porch, which was definitely my favorite use prior to making it my office/studio.
Paint colors for my office/studio can be found HERE.
I admit it does feel a tad bit selfish to have claimed this bright room for my office, but I will say, the room gets so much more use now and I absolutely love it!
Do you have your own office/studio? I’d love to hear how you use your favorite space and where it is … in your home….or even a coffee shop? What would (or do) you surround yourself with in your room?
