Last week on my Instagram stories I shared a crochet garland I made. Since then I have received many requests for the pattern and how to make this simple crocheted garland. It is a great project for beginners, is inexpensive and comes together quite quickly.
I started making a video with instructions and taking photos yesterday. However, I didn’t get too far into the video making process before I concluding I just didn’t have the time to do a quality tutorial. So, I went back to the website where I learned to make the garland and contacted Delia of Delia Creates. Delia is so gracious! She is allowing me to share a few photos from her website and direct you to her excellent directions for making the garland. During this busy season, I’m so grateful to not have to recreate the (wheel) process!
I use the same yarn as Delia and I’ve found that Walmart has a great price on it. Depending on how loose you crochet, a skein of this yarn will make approximately 30-35 feet of garland which is just right for a 5-6 foot tree. I use two garlands for a 7 foot tree.
Another variation to the chunky garland is to add red wood beads between the crochet chunks! Delia has a tutorial for this style garland as well. Of course you could add any color bead. I plan to try using a natural wood bead. Another idea is to chain a few more stitches between the “popcorn” chunks.
Delia’s blog is full of crochet tutorials and other craft projects. You can find her on Instagram HERE. I highly recommend checking out her website and her IG account for tutorials and crafts!
