CheriGENERAL

I’ve been MIA the last few days — and have drawn a bit of “grief” for my absence.  I don’t mind though…it makes me feel needed.  I have issues.

Through out the evening of December 23 – in the middle of a snowstorm, we watched the flight postings in Minneapolis.  Our Wild One was scheduled for a flight arriving at 1:40pm on Christmas Eve.  That flight was cancelled.  The four of us here braced ourselves for a Christmas without our daughter/sister.  Christmas Eve morning we learned the flight had been rescheduled, and she would be flying in around 3:30 pm.

The 23rd and 24th was a whirlwind of activity as we all pitched in and prepared for our annual Christmas Eve open house.

Fifty – yes 50 people joined us in our home on Christmas Eve.  We all enjoyed spending time with friends we don’t see often enough.

Nate was especially happy to spend time with two of his favorite ladies.

Baby Girl and Tylor reconnecting after many months.

We were so happy these handsome young men joined us
as well as these friends
and Baby Girl’s boyfriend’s family

Our guests left around midnight
and we all pitched in to clean the place up
and rest a bit before the kids opened gifts to each other
before heading to bed.  We are definitely staying up later these days!
Bright and early Christmas morning the kids ran to our room with their stockings in tow — around 11 am.  Because we have always opened stockings on mom and dad’s bed.

Sitting around the tree and opening gifts looks a bit different these days.  There was a time when my coffee cup was the only one.
After opening a few gifts we take a break to eat
some cherry and apple turnovers.
Nate takes a few minutes to look at a gift he received
The Pioneer Woman Cookbook!
