CheriGENERAL

On September 12, 1981 Kirk and I said these exact words to each other…
“I, Cheri, take thee Kirk; to be my wedded husband; and I do promise and covenant; before God and these witnesses; to be thy loving and faithful wife; in plenty and in want; in joy and in sorrow; in sickness and in health. Where you go, I will go, and where you stay, I will stay. your people will be my people and your God my God, as long as both shall live.”
and these…..
“This ring without beginning or ending is the symbol of my undying love for you. In token and pledge of our constant and abiding love, with this ring I thee wed, in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.”

We memorized our vows and said them straight out….without help or repeating from the pastor. We also did put the words together and changed the typical vows.
Twenty-six years ago on September 12th we said “I do”…..that was the best decision we ever made!
To celebrate, we went to an early dinner at our favorite restaurant, The Redwood Room. Just after we ordered we saw our good friends Brenda and Steve walk in….we had considered calling them and asking them to join us, but never did….so it was a pleasant surprise to see them walk in! Of course they joined our table and we had a wonderful dinner together!
