We’ve traveled over the (Mississippi) river, and through the (Wisconsin) woods to my sister’s house in the western suburbs of Chicago.
It’s 12:04 am on Thanksgiving Day (and my sister’s 50th birthday!). We packed in a full day on Wednesday with the drive here … a stop at an outlet mall… making stuffing, cranberry salad, chocolate pie, turkey, cinnamon rolls, and chopping veggies for dip.
Tuesday I made a cherry pie, pumpkin torte and the traditional sweet potatoes.
My sister and I took the night off from cooking (dinner) tonight and went to Portillo’s for dinner.
Because I love me some Chicago style roast beef sandwiches!
Traditionally we have gone to Lou Malnati’s for pizza the night before Thanksgiving. This year we are putting off the traditional Lou’s night until Saturday. Traditionally, our group is a bit larger than this …. but change is part of life and we just roll with who is here.
Traditionally, these two are always crackin’ each other up…
You can even take home large quantities of the roast beef. This box is coming home with us!
Whatever your Thanksgiving traditions are,
May your day be joyful
and full of thanksgiving.
Love,
