Oh my goodness, does it ever take me way too long to get a post up these days! I’ve been pretty busy lately. Over the last few days, I have accomplished quite a bit. I took a meal to a close friend and her family who had just lost their mom and were here from out of town. Celebrated Nate’s birthday, set up a new bunkroom/playroom space for the arrival of our Cincinnati grandchildren, and managed to get our little cottage playhouse ready for summer play. I’ll be sharing those projects in the future.

I also took some fun time to go treasure hunting at a few local thrift stores with Nate, our son who is visiting from Florida. We wore masks and used hand-sanitizer like it was our job. At the first store, I scored this large ironstone basin that was once part of a set that would have included a pitcher. With that find in my cart, the anticipation grew and the thrill of hunt increased!

Ironstone
I also found two ironstone platters and a pretty handmade knit blue and white throw.

Typically I follow the same route through thrift stores. I head to the dish aisle first. That’s where I usually find ironstone pieces. Then I move to the baskets, furniture, picture frames, and finally books. I like looking for Martha Stewart books, cookbooks, vintage, art and decorating books, and how-to books for sewing and crafts.
I was thrilled to find Martha Stewart’s Homekeeping Handbook on this hunt. I added it to my laundry room shelf with other similar books. I do refer to these books often and enjoy looking through them and reading them in my downtime and use them often for reference.

At the final thrift store, we found some playhouse furniture. It was the icing on the cake! Our little Magnolia has spent quite a bit of time playing in the playhouse — which she calls the “big dollhouse” where she plays family and coffee shop. Along with the doll bed and rocker, we also found a doll high chair.

Today we moved the little play kitchen out to the playhouse — Magnolia was thrilled. I’ll do a playhouse post soon – it’s a fun tiny cottage.
Last week I also found some treasures on FB Marketplace that I am excited to share. It’s been an unusually good week for thrifting. For those of you who feel like you “never find the good stuff” I can assure you it is there, but you have to go often. There are so many times I come home with absolutely nothing!
