Today I had a day off work …. and a day at the majestic Gonda Building of Mayo Clinic with Nate. It’s never fun to have to go to the doctor, but at least at the (world famous) Mayo Clinic you feel you are going to the doctor in a classy, first class place! Today was Nate’s pre-operative appointments for his jaw surgery, which will be on Monday, July 30th. The surgery will take 5 hours! I must say it is pretty humbling, and scarey to send a child to surgery for something like this, even when they are 20 years old! Nate endured several hours of questioning, impressions (2 kinds), x-rays, pictures (for the “before”), and other “stuff” like a pro. I’m not sure if the actual surgery has “hit him” yet, but he did ask the doctor today if the surgery could be videotaped so he could see it later! Go figure! After the Clinic appointments we had lunch at Jimmy John’s. I had been nursing a migraine all morning, and by the end of lunch, it was getting pretty bad. I came home, took my magic Imitrex and went to bed, then presto-magic, I woke up 1.5 hours later and the migraine was gone! Hallelujah!! Maybe there will be a rebound tomorrow, but I can handle it if it hits!
