Treat delivery

CheriGENERAL

Last week I committed to taking treats to the Gift of Life Transplant House, as I joined up with my friend Deb who brought the idea to my attention.

I had coffee with Deb last week, and we talked about what we were going to make.  I know she made up something fabulous and beautiful because she is good at this kind of thing.  I didn’t get too daring, or too beautiful, just decided to try a few recipes in my “to try” file — and something that was valentine-y, ifyaknowwhatimean.

The Red Velvet Popcorn recipe I found over at Cookies & Cups is yummy and simple, but I think it is best eaten right away.  I’m sure the guests at the Transplant House won’t mind though.

The other item I took over was brownie bites with strawberry heart marshmallows and a little almond bark drizzled over the top.  I found this idea on Pinterest which lead me to the recipe at A Pumpkin and a Princess.

I donated the cake carrier too — it got it for a dolla at the dolla store!

and I just might go get one for myself this week!
The brownie bites were from a mix.
I had to make them twice.
I was chatting it up the first time, and added a 1-1/4 cups
of water to the mix instead of 1/4 cup.
Inspite of my attempts to remedy the error (adding flour & cocoa powder)
the brownies were a bit tasteless .. and rubbery.
The men living in The Cottage don’t mind,
but there was no way I would use them for my treats!
It felt good to do something for others,
and I’ll tell you, did I ever get a great reception when
I walked in with the goodies!
