Last month I went to a local garage sale full of amazing antique items. It was definitely a “pinch me” moment when I walked up to the sale and began browsing all the beautiful antiques. In my last post I shared some of my other finds HERE. Today I’m sharing one of my favorite finds from the day.
It didn’t take me long to spot this vintage, leather attaché case and claim it for myself. The attache is in great condition and still quite usable. It has a thin profile, yet still has plenty of room to easily hold my 15″ laptop (yes, it’s big), some file folders and even a couple notebooks and writing tools.
It has California Leather Company stamped on the inside, and the best I can tell, it could be connected to THIS company.
I plan to use this attache often, and when I’m not using it, it is a piece of art – hanging on a wall in my office|studio. The photos of it seem to show it as an orangish color, but it is more of a golden brown.
When I use it, and see it hanging on the wall I wonder who used this leather gem before me? Because we live in Rochester, MN, the home of the Mayo Clinic, my first thoughts wonder if it belonged to a physician, or a Clinic business person, or maybe even an attorney.
Last weekend my sister and cousin, and their spouses visited and we all went to Gold Rush in Oronoco, MN. It’s a pretty big deal around here with many antique vendors both in Oronoco and at the fairgrounds in Rochester. There were several items I was tempted to purchase and I know I would have enjoyed them — but I’m in a “purging mode” lately, and in less of a buying mode. Don’t get me wrong though — purchasing is always an option!
