There are many historic properties in my home town – which is rich in history. I had the privilege of working in several of these historic properties prior to my retirement.
This home, built from 1916-1918 by famous doctor and his wife was one of the homes I worked in. This doctor was very involved in the starting of a world famous clinic in our city.
Most of my working hours were spent here at this house, though my office was in the carriage house. However, I also, occasionally, spent time (hosting events) at three other historic homes in town.

My role in my job there included knowing the history of five different homes and the stories of the families who lived in them. My roles included food service, scheduling staff, planning events and meals, hosting events, scheduling events, sharing the history of the families and homes with guests and giving tours of the homes.
Spending my days in these homes was surreal. I often wished the walls could talk!
I’ll share more about these homes in future posts.
