Amazing!

CheriGENERAL, RECIPES

Saturday night we did some “catching up” with friends.  Approximately 2 hours before our guests were to arrive, I got a hankerin’ to re-arrange our great room.  Crazy, I know.  But that’s how I roll sometimes!

My favorite son had mentioned this arrangement awhile back, and I just couldn’t imagine it.  But Saturday it suddenly seemed possible and do-able.

Our bay window in the dining area is so bright and cheerful.  It is also the place everyone seems to hang out.   So we switched the table and the former “sitting area” out.

The table and dining area is much more spacious now….and the room feels more “open”.

The arrangement works wonderful for entertaining…especially since everyone hangs out around the kitchen area anyway.  I like to switch things up, and surprise people with new options.  It’s not like this arrangement has to be permanent – it is just different.  A new use of the space.

I served this AMAZING
Strawberry Shortcake Cake last night.
The recipe is from Pioneer Woman’s Blog.
You can get the recipe here

With the leftover frosting from the cake, you should make these!  My sisters and I grew up with these yummy  “graham cracker cookies” made with frosting and
yeah, graham crackers.

I remember these in many a brown bag school lunch.  We would make them with a powder sugar, butter, milk frosting.  I have to tell you, with the cream cheese added — AMAZING.

I’ll be making another Strawberry Shortcake Cakes soon.
Tonight DIY GUY requested it for his birthday cake!
