Dresser Project

CheriANTIQUES, FURNITURE MAKEOVERS

dresser
In between prepping the yard and garden for our Minnesota winter, I spent a bit of time working on some antique furniture pieces I purchased earlier this fall.
It all started when I came across this mint green dresser on Facebook Marketplace for $15.
I knew I could turn this funky piece of furniture into something unique and for that price, I didn’t have much to lose if it didn’t turn out like I expected it to.
Anxious to see the wood under the paint, I brushed on some Ready Strip, waited about an hour and voila! It is so satisfying to see a beautiful oak top!
Because I planned to leave the top, and paint the dresser in MMS Milk Paint I didn’t need to remove the remaining paint.  The wood drawer pulls were painted with gold spray paint which was easily sanded down to the wood in about 20 minutes for all eight.
A little ambition, creativity, elbow grease and this was the reward …
Painted in Miss Mustard Seed milk paint in the color Typewriter.
This is the photo I posted on Facebook Marketplace.
The dresser sold within a few hours for a very nice profit.
Shortly after finding the mint green dresser, I found a few other wonderful antique pieces which means I have more projects to keep me busy as the snow falls!
