Gold Rush 2019

CheriALL THINGS HOME, ANTIQUES

This year I went to Gold Rush with my friend, Marian.  It was the first time in 27 years (that’s how long we’ve lived in Rochester) that I didn’t go with Kirk.  He was happy to stay home and work on some landscaping and sent me on my way.
Neither Marian or I had anything on our “looking for” list this year.  And, as I told Marian, that’s when I typically find the most items – which was true this year.

Our first stop was on the edge of town – so we parked and headed back – and found our first treasures.  Marian found a nice frame for her paintings, and I found an ironstone piece.

Our second stop – was in an old schoolhouse/meeting hall built around 1875.  The new owners are clearing out years of items left behind and plan to fix up the building.  I scored the tall basket, the chair, and some fun notepads (thanks to Marian for finding and sharing with me)!  Of course, the basket and chair were not from the early days as the building has been used for different purposes throughout the years.

The coat hooks and other basket were found at vendors in town.  The coat hooks will be coming to a wall in The Cottage soon and the large basket has been a few locations already – trying to find my favorite place – for now.

Also, not pictured was a nice old oak file cabinet!  I’ll be getting it later this week.

The chair is cute and is working great in my little office/studio.  You can’t see it in the photo, but it was SO dirty and gross!  In my next post, I’ll share how I cleaned it.

I’m crossing my fingers and toes, hoping and praying that I will be able to bring home a couple other treasures from the building as well (the owner is still deciding on selling them).
