One of the projects I’ve wanted to tackle for years is creating a gallery wall in our foyer. This space is the first thing family and friends see when they walk through our front door, and I wanted it to tell a little of our story.

The photos I’ve used recall memories for our family of loved places, people, and seasons of life.
This photo of the Adirondack chairs was taken at one of our family’s favorite spots. A place filled with so many memories for us. It is in the Adirondacks in Upstate NY. We spent a lot of time here, swimming in the pond, camping, campfires, family, friends who are family, and no screens!

A homemade swing at our favorite spot — so many memories of swinging here, and pushing our children and a few grandchildren on the swing,

The “tiny cottage” in the Spring – a playhouse in our yard — our grandchildren have spent countless hours playing and using their imagination here. Also many pots of stone soup have been created!

The good old days of the early 1960s! My mom (right) and her friend, our next door neighbor, affectionally called “Aunt Mary” by my sisters and I, are taking some time to catch up with each other and nourish their friendship. A good reminder to me to do the same.

Sometimes the hardest part for me, is simply getting started, and now I find myself noticing new photos and artwork, that could find a home here.

There’s a good chance not all of these pictures will remain – but they could! Truth is I have already purchased additional frames – but this is a beginning — and I’m loving the challenge, the fun, and the creative stretch.
I’m also considering switching out photos for each season.
